“NO BOOK IS REALLY WORTH READING AT THE AGE OF TEN WHICH IS NOT EQUALLY (AND OFTEN FAR MORE) WORTH READING AT THE AGE OF FIFTY” – C.S. LEWIS

May/June Issue of Scholastic’s Storyworks Magazine: Story and Read-Aloud!

I’m so excited to have a short story (and author read-aloud!) in the May/June issue of Scholastic’s excellent Storyworks magazine! So much thought goes into these pieces, from editorial to design—and it’s all founded in respect for young readers and attention to classroom utility… so it was truly an honor to get to see the Storyworks team in action!

Thanks especially to Alessandra P. and Lauren Tarshis.

This story is based on something that actually happened to me on a hike in the woods by our house and the characters were inspired by some of our Little Free Library’s biggest fans (I can’t wait to give them a copy!)
